In 2009 appointed by the Danish Ministry of the Interior and Social Affairs to represent the private sector as board member for the national knowledge, competence and development centre, Centre for voluntary social work.

Since 2009, board member of "Fødevarebanken", a food bank project that aims at helping low income families to a healthier living by collecting and preparing surplus and perishable fresh food from the food industry. The food is delivered to social service agencies, who distribute it to socially marginalised groups in Denmark.

From 2007-2009, board member of Kufunda-Denmark, a Danish friendship association supporting the learning experiment Kufunda Learning Village in Zimbabwe. Among other issues, the village works with renewable energy, organic farms, and learning projects.

In 2006 and 2007, Tania Ellis worked as a professional member of the board for the international interior decoration company Rice A/S. The company was one of the first in Denmark to be certified in social responsibility (SA8000).

Since 2007, advisory board member for Develop, a Danish student organisation at Copenhagen Business School. Among other activities, Develop organizes a yearly case competition, DevelopPrize, in which students submit business ideas with a potential to create both economic and social value in developing countries.

Member of the Selection Committee for the Humanitarian Water & Food Award. The Water & Food Award is given to the most innovative, sustainable and humanitarian project that helps people without access to clean water and food. The first prize will be awarded in January 2010.
